Wally Minko – piano/conductor
Grammy–nominated composer, arranger, producer, and pianist Wally Minko is currently the Director of Music and Worship at Calvary Church West Hills. He has performed with jazz superstars Jean-Luc Ponty and Arturo Sandoval, prog-rock superstar Jon Anderson of Yes, pop stars Tom Jones, Barry Manilow, and Deneice Williams; R & B artists Pink, Toni Braxton, En Vogue, New Edition, and Expose’, and Rock & Roll Hall-of-Famer Gregg Rolie of Santana and Journey.
Dave Zarlenga – drums
Drummer David Zarlenga is a California native currently residing in the Santa Clarita Valley. He served as musical director and drummer for Tom Jones, and has performed on various television shows including The Tonight Show, The Simpsons, and Conan O’Brian.
Shane Harry – bass
Shane Harry was the principal bass in the Haydn Festival Orchestra in Vienna, Austria from 2008 to 2010, and has worked with a number of artists including Susan Boyle and Il Divo. Shane’s TV credits include Dancing with the Stars, America’s Got Talent, and the Tavis Smiley Show.
Gary Meek – saxophones, flute, keyboards
Multi-instrumentalist Gary Meek has played with leagends Dionne Warwick, Airto Moreira and Flora Purim, Jeff Lorber, Herb Alpert, and Al Jarreau. In addition to the 150 or so records he has appeared on as a sideman, Gary has Five Solo CDs: "Gary Meek", “Time One", “Live At Ronnie Scott's", "Good Friends", and “Step 7”.
Mike Renneker – electric guitar, keyboards, vocals
Mike Renneker is a songwriter, singer, producer and guitarist and been a part of the Los Angeles music scene since the '80s. For the past several years, he has served as music director at Sherman Oaks Lutheran Church. Mike and his wife Rhonda recently adopted a little girl from China, named Caydence, who is an amazing blessing and gift from God!
Michael Olsen – electric guitar
Michael has served Calvary Church as the resident worship guitarist for over ten years while actively writing and recording music with various rock bands throughout Los Angeles. After completing his double bachelor’s degrees in Public Health Science and Radiologic Science, Michael now works for UCLA Medical Center in Westwood as an MRI technologist. Primarily working in diagnostic and research settings, he also works with UCLA’s main trauma unit providing emergency imaging services to the greater Los Angeles and Southern California
Robert Lane – acoustic guitar
Robert has served at Calvary for several years – first as live sound engineer, and then as an acoustic guitarist with both our adult and youth worship bands. He has composed and performed scores for several independent films and television, has toured extensively across the United States as a solo artist and lead guitarist, and has appeared on four major music labels.
Melanie Hunter – vibes, keyboards, percussion
Melanie Hunter has been playing mallet percussion for over 15 years.
She has been blessed to be a part of several awesome ensembles
including Capital Sound Drum and Bugle Corps, the Northwest Chicago
Symphony Orchestra, Valparaiso University's Percussion Ensemble,
Conejo Valley Community Band and Jingle Bell Jazz for the past several
years. In addition to mallets, Melanie enjoys singing and playing piano.
Two months ago Melanie and her husband Nick welcomed their first
child, Madeline into the world and they couldn't be happier!
Bella Adame - keyboards
Keyboardist Bella Adame is a 9th grade student this year at her High School. Aside from her core classes, she is currently studying Chinese and Music Theory. She also has a huge heart for people, languages, and God's Word.
Wayne Bergeron – lead trumpet, flugelhorn
Born in 1958 in Hartford, Connecticut, Wayne Bergeron is enjoying a career as one of the most active players in the world, recording with Ray Charles, Green Day, Beyoncé, Michael Buble, Josh Groban, Seth MacFarlane, Natalie Cole, Celine Dion, Seal, Diana Krall, Tito Puente, Christina Aguilera, Dianne Reeves, Barry Manilow, Michael Bolton, Gwen Stefani, Earth Wind & Fire, as well as 300 plus TV & motion picture soundtracks.
Dan Fornero – lead trumpet, flugelhorn
Originally from Kenosha, Wisconsin, Dan Fornero’s credits include Woody Herman, Tom Jones, the Brian Setzer Orchestra, Al McKay, Phil Collins, Johnny Hallyday, and Neil Diamond. He has also appeared on several movie soundtracks, including Batman Returns, The Player, The Mask, Hancock, Head of State, Bad Santa, Race To Witch Mountain, The Whole Ten Yards, Polar Express, as well as Dancing With The Stars, The Grammy Awards and The Emmy Awards.
Fred Simmons – trombone
Trombonist Fred Simmons has worked with such well-known artists as Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Mel Torme, Tom Jones, Natalie Cole, Steve Lawrence and Edy Gourmet, Rosemary Clooney, Henry Mancini, Quincy Jones, Tito Puente, Poncho Sanchez, and The Harry Connick, Jr. Orchestra, to name just a few. Mr. Simmons recently returned home to Los Angeles from Tokyo, Japan, where he had been living for the past several years.
Jarrett Johnson – special guest vocalist
Jarrett Johnson is a Grammy® Award winning vocalist/songwriter/producer. He is an industry professional whose expansive skill set has been featured with world-renowned vocal group Take 6, numerous studio recordings, and in top tier live corporate bands. His soulful tenor voice can be heard in everything from film and television to background vocals for some of today’s top artists including Michael Bublé, Andrea Bocelli, and Childish Gambino.
He's worked alongside iconic talents including legendary super-producer Quincy Jones, Carole King, Jamie Foxx, and Natalie Cole while steadily writing with the industry's top creators. He's performed in front of tens of thousands of captivated audience members in venues including The Kennedy Center and The Lincoln Center and continues gaining momentum building an international following as a solo artist.
