Calvary Church exists to…
CELEBRATE the presence of God, COMMUNICATE His love, grace, and forgiveness to everyone, CONNECT those we reach in meaningful relationships, help them to CULTIVATE a Christ-like lifestyle, and prepare them to CONTRIBUTE to the ministry of the church.
At Calvary Church we believe that the purpose of the church is discovered in the Bible, not invented by people. We base our purpose statement on two Scriptures found in the Bible.
God’s Great Commandment
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:37-40
God’s Great Commission
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20
- To love God with all your heart is Worship
- To love your neighbor as yourself is Ministry
- To “Go … make disciples” is Evangelism
- To “teach them … all things” is Discipleship
